Active Virus Shield (AVS) was a version of Kaspersky Antivirus provided free by AOL (US). It was excellent but has been discontinued http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivir... . You needed to provide an email in order to be sent an authorisation code to complete the installation.

My guess is that you have found an old copy of this but you won't be able to get an authorisation code.

I'm not sure of that site but 'Kaspersky' is great BUT not available for free. BUT you can basically get it free by using AOL Active Virus Shield. It's RUN by Kaspersky under AOL's name so It's just like using KAV (which is the BEST antivirus!) =)
I used Kaspersky and it's really good Based from experience, my pc had a virus and after I installed Kaspersky, it immediately recognized the virus. Try it.

Anyone who downloads and installs a file like that is an idiot. Now I see why people need antivirus software. Get it from a reputable source, not a link in Yahoo Q%26A.

We used to use it but after an upgrade about 6 months ago it took exception to my son's computer games and kept crashing the computer. Some might say no bad thing!. We use comodo now
most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.
