Ok firstly you can't get a free download for windows xp professional, i think you can for front page though.

I have Norton 360, and i've used Norton Internet Security in the past, I'd say Norton 360 is better because there is a PC clean-up feature, and 2gb online back-up.

1 year protection for up to 3 pc's mean that you can use your Norton 360 disk on 3 different computers.

P.S don't listen to people that say 'OMG don't get Norton get (anti-virus program) its much better' i've had Norton for 4 years and its not gone wrong.

"1 Year Protection for up to 3 household PCs" means you're allowed to install the software on up to 3 computers IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD. The virus subscription will last for one year. After the year is up, you can still check for viruses, but the software can't update (and be able to search for newer, more sophisticated viruses).

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

it depends on what you want to speed up? internet? the machine? boot times? defrag your system first thats a good way of getting back speed then try here (presuming its xp)

No. There's a reason they are free. A lot of people will tell you about AVG and Avast, but they are not as good as people will tell you. No antivirus is fool-proof, but the better one's provide updates faster. Go to Wal-Mart and spend $19.99 on McAfee and save yourself the headache.

Instead of all these "Mine is better than yours" answers that go on around here, I'll instead answer with the facts.

Looking at current protection ratings, AVG scores a lowly 90% protection against all known viruses, whilst Avast comes in at 92%. This means they are letting through roughly one in every ten viruses - pretty shocking.

Norton and McAfee are slightly better by protecting against 98.3% and circa 97% respectfully of all known viruses. However, Norton and McAfee can be known for being very heavy programs which can tend to slow down certain machines. If you are thinking of installing either of these I would definitely recommend you download their free trial to check it does not affect your machine in this way prior to opening your wallet.

If you would be interested in other Security products that are better than all of these, you should try either Prevx1, Kaspersky or F-Secure who all score over a 99% protection rating.

Out of these three my recommendation would be Prevx1, as this is the quickest at protecting against new outbreaks of malware.

I tried that program and after a week or so got rid of it. Then tried another free porgram. That was worse. So, I paid the $30 for Norton Antivirus and things run SO much smoother.
i tink tat therez one tat gives you a free trial for lik 1 week or so..but afterwards you'll hav 2 lik pay no matter what...if you agreed or not you hav 2 pay money 2 the company...so im not sure right now...
